Spencer “Orgoblo” Blower Restoration

 

One of the finest and most dependable organ blowers manufactured in the years from 1904 through 1986 were built by the Organ Power Division of the Spencer Turbine Company in Hartford Connecticut and later in Windsor Connecticut.  Over 31,000 organ blowers bearing the Spencer nameplate were built before the company ceased organ blower sales in 1986.  Serial #31340, a 10hp 3ph unit with 18” static pressure and 2300 cfm was one of the last units built in August of 1985 for our own use.

 

Many of these workhorses of the organ industry are still in service today but are rapidly in need of motor rebuilding and case restoration. The Spencer Turbine Company is still in business providing industrial air handling and vacuum systems from their Windsor Connecticut facility.

 

Shenandoah Organ Studio, Inc. has now teamed up with one of the oldest and most reliable motor repair facilities in Richmond that has the capability to repair electric motors up the 450 horsepower. In addition, we have acquired the services of a local high quality “power coating” facility in Waynesboro to handle the beautiful finishing of all exterior steel components. The finished product is an organ blower that runs and looks like brand new.

 

At this time, we are limited to blower drum diameters of 50” and less as this is the largest blower size we can carry inside our delivery vehicle.  However, the greatest majority of orgoblo units can be handled without difficulty.  Palletized motor freight shipping via UPS freight is preferred. However, we can provide expedited customer pick up and delivery nationwide for customers in a time limited situation.  Call for further details and requirements.
